Lynn Marshall Linnemeier
Senior Consultant Artist, Partners for Historical Justice
Lynn Marshall Linnemeier is an artist who draws inspiration from the communities she has had the privilege to work with and her personal experiences that revolve around family. Since 1989, she has been capturing the essence of the American South through her artwork, which includes both figurative and abstract pieces. She conducts imaginative workshops, introducing participants to various mediums, research, and storytelling, to facilitate community efforts in re-imagining difficult memories and history, to promote healing.
These collaborations use 2-D/3-D methods and mixed media to explore the past and future of a place. Lynn embellishes her artworks with primary source documents and photographs and engages the attendees in dialogue that focuses on life experiences. She often mythologizes stories that are relayed to her to examine and re-frame historical incidences. She received her BFA in Photography at the Atlanta College of Art and an MA in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections including the High Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Boston Consulting Group.
